RUTH STONE DEVELOPS THE CYANOTYPES OF PRISHTINA

Ruth Stone photographs of Kosovo’s capital city Prishtina on fabric and paper, developed using natural sunlight.

As an exploration of place, Ruth Stone created a series of cyanotype prints using film photographs taken on a trip to Prishtina, Kosovo.

“This was my first time in Kosovo, the first time that I had ever used a film camera and one of the first times I had tried cyanotype. I wanted to use this process as it forces you to be patient and to work in collaboration with nature.”

“Looking to the future I am hoping to develop these images into a small-scale publication celebrating the beauty of the city and its culture.”

“This project is about experimenting, experimenting and experimenting. The main idea is to get myself into a habit of keeping a ‘diary’ with my professional tools and explore visual aesthetics that fascinates me, instead of limiting myself with client briefs.”
